as a video game system has become a classic?

I know the systems of the Atari, NES, SNES, N64 and Game Boy, but I want to how become classic, is because the PS3 Gamecube, Wii, PS2, has to be the old traditional system is just snapshots, I'm not sure your data is used cartridge in the traditional, or because in fact before the 2000's anyone know?
